Meet Mrs. Brown
Professional Background: I graduated from Bloomsburg University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts with a focus in Political Science and a minor in History. I continued on to earn my master’s degree in Education from Lancaster Bible College in 2014. My plans were to become a school counselor, however after working with underprivileged youth I decided that I wanted to be the therapist in the room, collaborating intensely with families and stakeholders. I have over ten years of working as a clinical mental health professional. I am going into my second year teaching at MCA and I am grateful for this opportunity to rejoin this amazing team of teachers and administrators.
Favorite part about working at MCA: So many things! The parents and staff have been so kind and welcoming. I love seeing children make personal connections with Jesus through learning more about Him and all he has made. As an educator and as a mom of children that attend MCA, seeing the curriculum chosen and how scripture is printed on the pages brings me much joy. Most of all, I think my favorite part will always be hearing the prayers of these precious little ones.
Family: I live in New Holland with my supportive husband and our two funny and sweet daughters. I also consider my church family “family” and attend Living Christ Church in East Petersburg.
Hobbies: My hobbies include listening to audio books, attending moms groups or women conferences when I can sneak away, trying out different coffee shops, playing board games with my family, and playing “Monster” with my children.
Favorite Verse: Galatians 2:20. I love this verse because it humbles me, reminds me of my purpose for living, and helps me to have an eternal perspective.
Fun Facts: I was a part of the color guard team for all four years of high school and was promoted to captain in my senior year. I love couponing and birding! I love painting even though I am terrible at it. I have completed The 27 Waterfalls of Damajagua in the Dominican Republic twice, jumping from cliffs into canyon waterfalls and I am a horrible swimmer.
