Meet Mrs. Bland

Professional Background: I graduated from Millersville University (1997) with a bachelor's degree in Psychology. I remained at Millersville for my master's degree in Psychology and K-12 Pennsylvania state certification in School Psychology (2000). After working as a school psychologist, I took several years at home to be a stay-at-home mom.  Then I re-entered the school setting in a variety of roles, including a regular and learning support classroom aide; reading assistant for small groups; and a Pre-K teacher.  I also spent time as a Children's Ministry Director for children, infant through 5th grade.  My course study, field experiences and various employment settings have spanned over 30 years, allowing me to continue to serve in the areas of child development and education.  I joined Mainstay Christian Academy in 2024 as the sixth grade teacher.

 

Favorite Part of Working at MCA: Having the opportunity to continue to build and maintain relationships with families through education has been a blessing.  Teaching 6th grade has been the ideal place for me to land; a culmination of all of my training and experiences has been humbling and rewarding.

Family: I live in southern Lancaster County with my husband of over 25 years.  Our family includes two beautiful daughters and a wonderful son-in-law.

 

Hobbies: Hosting family dinners, spending weekends at the beach/mountains, walking/hiking, cooking/delivering meals, & drinking lattes.

 

Favorite Verse: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philipians 4:6

 

Fun Facts: I grew up in Huntingdon County, PA, amidst the mountains and miles away from sidewalks. I have worked with students at every educational level - ranging from preschool through postsecondary. I have known my husband for over 30 years. And I have never been on an airplane.
